How Much Does Laser Tag Equipment Cost?

Laser Tag equipment can be placed in two categories: equipment for home use and professional use. The price differences between the two are huge.

If you want to play Laser Tag at home, you need at least two guns and vests. For a set, you pay a minimum of $50, equating to $25 for one gun and one vest.

For professional use, the minimum purchase is often 20 guns and vests and a maximum of 32 guns and vests.

The purchase costs are between $15.000 and $120.000, equating to $750 and $3300 for one gun and one vest.

You are now aware of the costs of playing Laser Tag at home and what kind of an investment a Laser Tag center has had to make.

However, I will continue to explain much more in this blog.

For example, I will explain why the price differences between home use and professional use are so massive and what the differences are with similar sports such as paintball and Airsoft.

How much does a Laser Tag gun cost?

Given the difference between home use and professional use, no unequivocal answer can be given. As you have read earlier, the costs between these two variants are very different.

Low-budget Laser Tag guns are on sale for as little as $8.75. However, you do need to buy a set of 4 guns and vests, making this set costs $70 altogether.

A professional Laser Tag gun, on the other hand, costs between $340 and $1650.

How much does a Laser Tag vest cost?

As with the guns, it isn’t easy to give an unambiguous answer to this. The differences in cost between Laser Tag vests for home and those for professional use are huge.

A vest sells for as little as $8.75, but once again, you will have to buy a complete set of 4 guns and vests worth $70.

In contrast, a professional vest costs between $340 and $1650.

Why is Professional Laser Tag Equipment so Expensive?

You now know that professional Laser Tag equipment is much more expensive than the equipment intended for home use.

This is because the quality of professional Laser Tag guns and vests is generally much better. This is necessary as they are used much more intensively and often than Laser Tag sets for use at home.

Reasons why professional Laser Tag equipment is more expensive:

Higher quality:

One of the reasons why professional Laser Tag equipment costs more is because it is of much better quality.

The parts that are used are more expensive, and the assembling of the various parts is done more carefully.

More advanced:

Professional Laser Tag equipment is much more advanced than the Laser Tag equipment you use at home.

For example, the gun and vest register information and forward it to a computer.

This computer registers all kinds of different statistics, such as how many points someone has, how often someone has shot another person and how many shots have been fired.

Software:

Special software is needed to make all this run smoothly. Of course, developing this software costs money. The costs for software development are inclusive of the price of the equipment.

More special gadgets:

Professional Laser Tag equipment contains many more special gadgets. Although it does not apply to all weapons and vests, some examples are:

  • Ability to shoot in different salvos such as a single bullet, burst (3 bullets in a row), or even three bullets side by side
  • A selfie camera on the backside of the weapon
  • A vibrating function in the vest that vibrates when you’ve been shot

Is Laser Tag Equipment Expensive Compared to Paintball Equipment?

To play paintball, you need different equipment. This is much more equipment compared to Laser Tag.

To play paintball, you need the following:

  • Pistol
  • Mask
  • Hopper
  • Air tank
  • Paintballs
  • Maintenance tools
  • Cleaning supplies

You can get a starter kit for $100,- which includes the following:

  • Pistol
  • Mask
  • Hopper
  • Air tank

A big difference between paintball and Laser Tag is that in paintball, you have to refill the air tank and spend money on buying bullets.

In Laser Tag, you only have to replace the batteries occasionally, and you have unlimited bullets.

The purchase of the starter kit, the refilling of the air tank, and the constant purchase of paintballs make paintball equipment more expensive than Laser Tag equipment.

Is Laser Tag Equipment Expensive Compared to Airsoft Equipment?

The big difference between equipment for Laser Tag and equipment for Airsoft is that you need many more different things.

To play Airsoft, you need the following:

  • Pistol
  • Pistol bag
  • Power Source
  • Magazine
  • Eye protection
  • Ammo (BB’s)
  • BB loader
  • Maintenance tools
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Possibly face protection
  • Possibly a dead rag / kill rag

For a decent gun, you already pay between $150 and $500. One of the cheaper starter kits costs around $350. This includes the following:

  • Pistol
  • Power Source
  • Magazine (3 pieces)
  • Eye protection
  • Ammo (BB’s)
  • BB loader

The big advantage of Laser Tag compared to Airsoft is that a Laser Tag weapon and vest require much less maintenance.

Airsoft pistols must be properly cleaned and maintained. To do this, you need the right tools and cleaning supplies.

In addition, you must continuously stock up on new bullets. This means you have to keep spending money to be able to play Airsoft.

With Laser Tag, you don’t need this because you only have to replace the batteries occasionally, and you will have an infinite number of bullets.

Considering all the above, we can conclude that when you start playing Laser Tag at home, you will save a lot of money, as one weapon and one vest can be bought for just $25.

Conclusion

You now know what Laser Tag equipment costs for home use and what owners of Laser Tag centers have to spend.

If you buy Laser Tag equipment for home use, you don’t have to spend much money on it.

Suppose you want to purchase professional Laser Tag equipment. In that case, you will have to reach deep into your pockets to afford the cost.

Compared to similar sports such as paintball and Airsoft, Laser Tag equipment is a lot cheaper.
